News of the new test patch has given me fresh inspiration to make autocross layouts. I mainly do banger racing ones, and I suspect if you've ever played on a banger racing server you've either driven on one of my layouts or driven an adapted version at some point. I do some demolition derby arenas too.
But for my first one I've made a track with the FBM in mind, not tried it with any other cars so far, so let me know if you like it and if it works with other cars too.
Brilliant race, got up early to watch it and was wide awake for the whole thing. The last time I got that excited about a race it was Rossi VS Stoner at Laguna Seca in the MotoGP.
Ah okay, well roadster it is for me. It just seemed to me like the gearing on the roadster is perfect for Lime Rock, and the cup gearing is perfect for Laguna.
The good thing is the start/finish aint too far from there, so you could actually have a proper race on it, with a fun sprint to see who gets there first (the little FE oval). But I'm just really looking forward to making lots of new destruction derby maps, all mine were always so limited by those barriers and the object limit.
Finished 5th in my first Mazda Cup race, very nervous race from me but on the whole it was fun. Next time I might actually get a podium.
EDIT: Definately win or podium in my next race, since I only just realised the Mazda Cup car is setup for Laguna Seca, and the Roadster in setup for Lime Rock. I used the wrong car, which is a second slower and still mixed it up with everyone in the roadster.
Great news for cruise servers, but also brilliant news for those of us who enjoy making autocross tracks and especially good news for the guys who enjoy a bit of demolition derby.
Same, they looked better than Sauber in practice, but once again they were obviously doing short stints or running under weight to look better than they are. They did the same crap last season.
Imagine how cheap it is for us lot in the UK considering the exchange rate. Anyway I am getting to grips with this again, doing lots of laps in the Mazda Cup at Lime Rock, my best time is something like a 1:00.400, but I can go faster since that was on a long run of about 15-20 laps without stopping. I eventually did stop in a rather spectacular way though, not sure if anyone has managed to roll a Mazda Cup car, but I did, a few times (video coming soon!)
If you can get the right settings it's really not much different to playing with a wheel that has no force feedback. Especially if you can setup the car to help you. LFS is much easier in that respect, I would liken driving a slow car in iRacing to driving the BF1 in LFS, it needs the same level of concentration and you can't relax your grip very much.
Forgot how twitchy my gamepads are on this. It would be fine if I could set a small deadzone, but the best I can do is fiddle the steering setup so it thinks I have more rotation, that way it's not so twitchy.
Well I came back, I got 3 months for $7.50 because I had some iRacing credits. Last time I played I only had the Solstice to mess about with, now I have the Mazda too. I don't dare touch the bigger cars while using a gamepad though.
EDIT: Got my old stats back too.
28% Win ratio
90% Top 5 finishes
Led 28% of my laps
That's what I get for grabbing a list from another forum, another two names to prove BlueFail wrong though. I keep forgetting that the BTCC actually used to be the support race for F1, good times.
What utter and complete bollocks. You do realise the people with the #1, #2 and #3 in WTCC have all raced in the BTCC. Yvan Muller was the 2003 champion, Robert Huff drove alongside Jason Plato in 2004 and Gabriele Tarquini was the 1994 champion. Then you have Alain Menu, the 1997 and 2000 champion. That's just the ones racing now, you still have Thompson, Rydell and Prilaulx. Then you have 2007 and 2008 champion Fabrizio Giovandardi, regarded as one of the greatest tintop racers of all time. I also found a list of F1 drivers that have competed in the BTCC...
